The Koussevitzky Foundation  commissioned the piece in 2007 for David Greilsammer and the Suedama Ensemble, for a concert which had the theme of mysticism in music. In this commission I was required to use different Jewish texts which contained a mystical element. I chose texts by Abraham Heshel, Bialik, Rabbi Abraham Abulafia, S.Y. Agnon, Franz Kafka and Rabbi Nachman of Breslow. All texts deal with the subject of music and language.
