Keren's latest piano piece, "Fantaisie, mais 2 Fantastrophes" was released with the European label Naïve.   Jonathan began his studies as a violinist with Mr. Chaim Taub (1993-1998). During the course of his military service (1996-1999) as a member of the “outstanding musicians” unit he arranged more than 50 pieces for chamber and vocal ensembles, all of which were performed by military bands and the Israel Defense Force Education Corps Orchestra, as well as in concert halls. Following his service he studied composition with Mr. Reuben Serroussi (1999-2000).

Various Projects

Diary of a Madman (since 2011)

This is a theatrical adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s Diary of a Madman I created in 2011. This “sound drama” was written for actor/director Itay Tiran and Ensemble Gropius. Conductor Daniel Cohen, who is (among other things) Gropius’ artistic director, contacted me in 2008, and for a few years we were looking for a new project for the ensemble.

Cohen’s vision is to create art which truly bridges different disciplines: and indeed Diary of a Madman is not a theatre show with incidental music, nor is it a musical piece with narration- the musicians are an inseparable part of the drama (and they also act) and the actor is one of the musicians. Diary of a Madman is written for nine players, including myself on violin and keyboard.

Trivalazzia (Since 2013)

Watch the Youtube channel

This new trio, which performs both Baroque and Classical music on period instruments, features Zvi Meniker on harpsichord and fortepiano, Ira Givol on Baroque cello and Viola da gamba, and myself on Baroque violin.

Sexteto Roberto Rodriguez (Since 2007)

Roberto Juan Rodriguez is a Cuban-born American percussionist and composer who writes Cuban-Jewish music. I had the pleasure of playing in this band for a few years in NY, and record two albums with them: Timba Talmud (2009, Tzadik Records), and Aguares: The Book of Angels Volume 23 (2014, Tzadik Records).

Dissonuance (2010)

This was an experiment in bringing open/closed forms into classical music, and performing early and folk music with a diverse group of classical, folk and jazz musicians, using arrangements that are part written and part improvised. I had a jazz guitarist play 18-century figured bass, and a percussionist improvise on a ground-bass, together with classical musicians. I feel people are drawn to music regardless of its style or genre- but rather for its energy and quality, and this is what inspired me to initiate this project.

Takeshi/Nadel/Keren Trio (2008-2011)

Dan Nadel (Flamenco guitar) and Satoshi Takeshi (percussion) are two of the most inspiring musicians I have ever met. We met in New York and performed together regularly for a few years.

Black velvet (1997-2001)

Black Velvet is the oldest and most important Irish music band in Israel. Founded by Ehud Nathan, the band has been active in over three decades, specializing in traditional Irish music, as well as Balkan / Mideastern- flavored original music.I joined the band in 1997. It was my first real experience outside the classical music realm, and it has taught me a great deal about rhythm and melody, as well as folk-music fiddling techniques. When I left Israel in 2000 for my studies in the US I also left the band, but remained involved in the production of the band’s two albums (2000, 2010).

Harel Shachal and the Ottomans (Since 2013)

I recently started playing with Harel Shachal (Turkish clarinet) and this wonderful group of musicians, who perform classical and gypsy Turkish music.
